Short Biography

Ilias Tachmazidis is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, UK and a member of Centre for Planning, Autonomy and Representation of Knowledge (PARK) and Centre of Artificial Intelligence for Mental Health. His research interests fall in: Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Semantic Web, High performance Computing, Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

He graduated from the University of Crete, Greece receiving both M.Sc. and B.Sc. in 2012 and 2010, respectively. As a PhD Candidate at the University of Huddersfield, UK he investigated whether, how and to what extent large-scale reasoning can be achieved through mass parallelization, while being supervised by Prof. Grigoris Antoniou. Upon graduation in 2015, he took up a position of Research Fellow within PARK and was promoted to Senior Research Fellow in 2019.
